I am thankful to each one of you for making the summit a grand success. It was very much satisfying that a large number of alumni took part in the deliberations and giving shape to the resolutions which are being reproduced. Vice-Chancellor has formed a committee to draft the rules and regulations and soon the names shall be announced.


World Summit of AMU Alumni 2008
October 18 & 19, 2008

Resolutions adopted at the
Valedictory Session of the World Summit of AMU Alumni
held on October 19, 2008 at Kennedy Hall.
  1. “Resolved to establish AMU Alumni Foundation Endowment Fund.
  2. Resolved to establish an Alumni Foundation dedicated to the attainment of the highest academic excellence of AMU in terms of creation and modernization of laboratories, class rooms, hostels, as well as creation of chairs, institution of scholarships, assistance in travel grants, construction of new hostels, ICT support, and provision for visiting faculty.  Furtherance of Aligarh movement and spreading the message of Sir Syed in places and areas where it matters the most and any other activities incidental to the above, shall also be in the purview of the foundation.
  3. Resoled to organize faculty level Alumni Summit in Aligarh in the third week of December every year, and an international alumni meet every alternate year.
  4. Resolved to upload the developments in AMU website every Monday.
  5. Resolved that an Alumni Foundation shall be established as a fully autonomous entity in the University.  Its constitution is to be drafted by a committee to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor giving due representation to alumni from inside and outside India.
    The committee shall submit the first draft by November 30, 2008 and the draft shall be uploaded on www.amu.ac.in immediately inviting comments.  The revised draft shall be uploaded by December 15, and the final draft shall be uploaded by December 31, 2008.
  6. Resolved that a separate bank account be opened in the name of AMU Alumni Foundation Endowment Fund to enable the University to deposit donations etc. made by the alumni.  No money shall be spent from this account till such time, the rules and regulations are approved.

The Organizing Secretary read out the resolutions and the same was unanimously adopted by the house”
